Get the field that stores the click id
The sale is in the network report, while the tracker row for that click is still empty. The click id was sent in a field the network does not store, or the postback used a different name.
Choose the network and the tracker. You get the offer field that stores the click id, and the token the postback should return.
The parameter pair appears here after you submit.
The pairs, without the form
These rows are the documented examples. The form swaps in the token for the tracker you pick, and that token is in the next table.
| Network | Offer field | Documented example | Comes back |
|---|---|---|---|
| ClickBank partner | extclid | extclid={clickid} | {extclid} |
| ClickBank HopLink | tid | ?tid={clickid} | {extclid} is the server name |
| BuyGoods | subid | &subid= plus the value | {SUBID} |
| BuyGoods, Voluum | subid2 | subid2={clickid} | {SUBID2} |
| MaxBounty, Voluum | S2 | S2={clickid} | #S2# |
| MaxWeb, Voluum | subid and subid2 | The step and the example disagree | {SUBID2} |
Pass the click id out, then back
You pass the click id to the affiliate network on the offer URL. The tracker replaces its token with the click id, and the network stores that value in the field you appended. When the link already has a question mark, the next field is joined with &.
Voluum's article on submitting a postback says cid is mandatory, and that it carries the Voluum click id back. BeMob's BuyGoods template uses cid for the same job. Binom's postback example puts the network token in cnv_id, and the offer token is {clickid}.
When the two names differ, or the value comes back empty, the network can show a conversion the tracker never records. Keitaro's note on missing conversions calls an empty or wrong subid the usual cause. A click that skipped the tracked offer link leaves the network with no id to return.
ClickBank: extclid and the tid parameter
ClickBank's tracking-parameters article uses extclid on HopLinks and Direct Tracking Links when the click id comes from a partner. The example is extclid={clickid}, and the value can run to 256 characters.
The HopLinks guide still documents tid as an optional tracking id of up to 100 characters: numbers, lowercase letters, and underscores. A dash in that id is not tracked.
Voluum's ClickBank integration tells you to put tid={clickid} on the HopLink, with a question mark in front of tid when that link has no query string yet. ClickBank's RedTrack article still says to append &tid={clickid} to the offer URL.
A May 2025 ClickBank update renamed the postback's external click parameter from {ext_clid} to {extclid}.
The tracking-parameters article puts extclid on the offer and {extclid} on the server postback. The Voluum and RedTrack setup articles still put tid on the offer.
BuyGoods subid, MaxBounty, and MaxWeb
BuyGoods tells affiliates to append &subid= and a value, in lowercase, at the end of the link.
Voluum's BuyGoods setup adds subid2={clickid} after the ampersand. BuyGoods describes {SUBID2} as the subid2 value from the referring link, and the example places it in cid. For a Voluum campaign, I'd use subid2={clickid} on the offer and cid={SUBID2} on the postback.
That same help article writes the offer fields in lowercase and the postback tokens in capitals.
BeMob's BuyGoods template sends cid={SUBID}. When the template is not adding the click id, the offer URL ends with subid={clickId}.
Voluum's MaxBounty article passes the click id as S2={clickid}. The token table lists #S2# as the click id for parameter S2. On a Voluum postback that token goes in cid.
Voluum's MaxWeb article tells you to add subid2={clickid} after the ampersand. The example URL on that page uses subid={clickid} as the query. The token table there describes {SUBID2} as the click id on subid2. The step and the example use different field names, so that pair stays unsettled.
The token each tracker appends
Each network keeps its own field name. The value is the token from the tracker you picked.
| Tracker | Token on the offer | Slot that receives it |
|---|---|---|
| Voluum | {clickid} | cid |
| RedTrack | {clickid} | Copy it from the offer source. A listicle lander fills lpclickid. |
| ClickMagick | [cmc_vid] | The address the account generates |
| BeMob | {clickId} | cid on the BuyGoods template |
| Binom | {clickid} | cnv_id |
RedTrack's help article says {clickid} equals clickid on a standard landing page. A listicle lander uses lpclickid. Copy the string from the offer source settings. That article does not include a query string for the call coming back.
ClickMagick replaces [cmc_vid] on affiliate links with a visitor id when the click tracking script is on the page. That URL is generated in the account's postback tool.
BeMob writes {clickId}, with that capital I, on a BuyGoods offer you fill in by hand. Binom's example puts the network token in cnv_id.
Once the field and the token match, the postback URL builder assembles the full postback, including the payout macro.
When the conversion never lands
Keitaro describes the usual miss as an incorrect subid. The value is empty, or it is the wrong one. A second failure happens earlier: the merchant URL is copied after the redirect, so the click never carries an id for the network to echo.
An affLIFT guide lists cid, tid, and click_id as sample field names. The field that works is the one the network documents.
My take
Start with the field on the network's own page. On ClickBank, that field is extclid, and tid is what the Voluum and RedTrack setup articles still append. On BuyGoods, the case of the field is the detail I'd check first. On MaxWeb, Voluum's article uses two field names, so it is not a settled pair.
